What's Your Story?

Your life IS your message to the world. You have 1 chance, 1 opportunity and 1 life to write your story (and show the world the unique person you are).

Each and every day, we have this opportunity to craft our legacy and write our story but, often times, this opportunity is not taken advantage of. In today’s world, there are people who live day to day (wake up, go to work or school, go home and sleep) and never really push the envelope. Life becomes this cycle of monotony and the dreams of something bigger erode away. There are also those individuals that are looking for that moment of inspiration to write their story but are, often times, left undecided and unsure. Those dreams also erode away.

I think we need to take more initiative with our lives and push that envelope. We should be who we want to be and do what we want to do.

Now, there are people who say, " I want to live like Ellen Degeneres but I don't have as much money as her". Cut out the excuses. Just because you don't have enough money, it doesn't mean you can't live like Ellen. You still CAN.

Ellen's platform is all about kindness (being kind to one another). Can you live a life being kind? Yes. You can volunteer your time to help others. You can give someone a gift card. You can give someone a compliment.

Every person is made up of this whole (which is made up of various parts) and these parts of a person are the things that should inspire you, not the whole. I think society has this thing with seeing the person as a whole but we should, instead, look at the individual traits/qualities of a person to be inspired. For example, Ellen's biggest trait is being giving. We can use that trait to inspire us to give back to the community more.

If we associate Ellen with the bigger picture (humanitarian and philanthropic), we sort of lose that sense of possibility, in a way. We lose that sense of "We can make a difference" if we always focus on the bigger picture. We should focus on the goals/parts that make up that picture.

I want to end with this quote by Myles Munroe:

“The wealthiest place on the planet is the cemetery. There lies buried the greatest treasure of untapped potential. The graveyard is the richest place on the surface of the earth because there you will see the books that were not published, ideas that were not harnessed, songs that were not sung and drama pieces that were never acted”.

Time is always running. Each and every day, you can seize the moment (and craft your legacy) or you can let the time fly by. The clock is ticking and the choice is yours. What’s your story?
